Professional, approachable and warm, Jo is a natural communicator with a creatively strategic mind. Working with her at Mackay Regional Council, I was always impressed with how calmly she faced challenging situations and how beautifully she negotiated with a range of stakeholders from community members to Councillors. She was integral to the community engagement of the redesign of the Mackay Regional Botanical Gardens where a range of creative engagement methods were used to great success. Jo is a genuinely lovely person with a sharp mind and incredible verbal and written communication skills. She is a delight to work with and would be a valuable contributor to any team.

As Council's key Community Engagement Officer, I worked across all areas to provide strategic advice and deliver engagement activities for services and projects. I also developed a suite of new templates and processes for community engagement within Council, and implemented this new framework across the organisation. I initially worked in the internal communications team, where I produced a weekly internal newsletter, provided general assistance and helped coordinate internal events. I was then promoted to a role in the Program Delivery team, where I provided notification to the community of minor infrastructure projects and handled all related media and correspondence.
