I had the pleasure of working with David at UCP, and what an experience. The love and compassion he had for the participants and the staff was amazing. If you want the best, well he's the man for the job.

I have served on the board for UCP of Greater Birmingham for 3 years and have known David since he joined the organization in 2011. As Chief Development Officer, David has demonstrated time and time again that he knows the value of relationship development as a critical foundational piece to effective fund development. A good friend of mine says that people do business with and give money to people and organizations that they like, and David is gifted at developing meaningful, sincere connections with community stakeholders. He adds value to any team of which he's a part.

United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Birmingham provides innovative services connecting people with disabilities to their communities and empowering individuals to live full and meaningful lives. As the Chief Development Officer, I provided leadership for the Development Team in all fund development activities, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving and capital campaigns. I developed and implemented strategies for identifying, cultivating and successfully soliciting individuals, corporations and foundations for charitable support.

I had the privilege of serving on the board and as Chair of the Development Committee for Girls on the Run, a life-changing, non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K with healthy living education. The 12-week training program is delivered by volunteer coaches and teaches very specific social and personal skills. The program culminates in a non-competitive 5K event which gives the girls a chance to shine, as well as an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. The unique and innovative curriculum combines physical training with uplifting lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, and mental development.

Serving as the Director of Development at Knox Area Rescue Ministries was an incredible experience. I provided direction to the direct mail campaign, special events and major gift events, along with public relations, church relations, volunteers and other areas of strategic focus. KARM is generously supported by the community and provides shelter, food, care, counseling and residential treatment for alcohol and drug addiction to men, women and children. KARM is a beacon of hope to the poor and needy, serving them in the name of Christ.
