Girls on the Run of Northeast Tennessee

  I had the privilege of serving on the board and as Chair of the Development Committee for Girls on the Run, a life-changing, non-profit prevention program that encourages preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.Girls on the Run combines training for a 5K with healthy living education. The 12-week training program is delivered by volunteer coaches and teaches very specific social and personal skills. The program culminates in a non-competitive 5K event which gives the girls a chance to shine, as well as an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.The unique and innovative curriculum combines physical training with uplifting lessons that encourage positive emotional, social, and mental development.

KARM is generously supported by the community and provides shelter, food, care, counseling and residential treatment for alcohol and drug addiction to men, women and children.
