I assembled a database of civil rights, multi-racial, Black, and Latinx groups for an email campaign to increase signatures on an anti-racism petition for Professor Walter D. Palmer. I worked on three other books about the African diaspora, the history of indigenous groups on every continent, and racism in the U.S. which have been published. I conducted research to support a wide range of legal cases revolving around public education, housing, and heath care. For Renters United Philadelphia, an organization launched by PILC I made outreach calls for monthly renters rights clinics, interviewed tenants about their experiences, canvassed outside of MCM Management Solution buildings, updated a policy memo about tenant organizing in Philadelphia, and designed a social media campaign. After interning this summer I was able to start this fall as a student fellow in charge of recruiting more interns in the PA area to continue mobilizing college-aged people to exercise their rights to vote! I am also helping organize student clubs on campus to participate in our September competition to get more students ready to vote. My main project was to help turn vacant properties owned by the City of Philadelphia into affordable housing units. This requires a lot of research on property values monitoring indicators of gentrification. I also support the staff in other endeavors such as mapping out commercial corridors of our member organizations on ArcGIS, communicating information between our office and City Council representatives, and taking notes on legislation to summarize for my supervisor.
