Reviewed planning applications for compliance with EA guidelines and the European Water Framework Directive. Additionally, as a member of Partnership and Strategic Overview team I worked closely with other departmental teams, as well as local councils, providing professional / technical expertise to support operational work, management decisions and public enquiries. I also participated in local projects and working groups to achieve well planned and managed integrated solutions. As part of the volunteer Flood Incident Support Officer role, I undertook front line investigation during flooding events as well as inspection, monitoring and survey work. I was responsible for data management of flood records, as well as local flood models database which I prepared for use in ArcGIS. As a reserve officer the primary focus on training is leadership and teamwork skills. This is achieved through adventurous training, such as orienteering, inter-flight sports, and command-tasks. In addition, there are classroom-based activities that teach practical problem solving with theoretical problems, as well as a heavy focus on aviation, with scope to operate the Grob Tutor aircraft. The goal of this training is to prepare us with skills for the role as an officer in the Royal Air Force. As a reserve officer the primary focus on training is leadership and teamwork skills.
