I worked with Paul for a couple years in the innovation area at Mars and reported directly to him for approximately six months. Within the Innovation Team, Paul managed numerous diverse research projects and always had an excellent eye for detail and a talent for problem solving, particularly regarding experimental design and proof of concept studies. Paul always communicated very clearly the expectations and objectives of some very diverse and ambiguous innovation projects. He also had the ability to form and communicate a clear vision of the final outcome and value of projects. Whilst managed by Paul, he was always trusted my ability with sometimes complex projects and negotiations with external collaborators whilst always being available for advice and support. He also actively encouraged development of the role and hence my personal development, resulting in some great opportunities from which I have learnt much and gained some fantastic business experience.
