When I first arrived in Westport, CT in January 2012, I was a new business owner in a new state. I didn't know many people. I signed up for the Chamber of Commerce in order to be part of the community. Shortly after signing up, Lisa called to schedule at time to introduce herself as the director of the Chamber. Since that first meeting, Lisa has been very supportive of my business through organizing events and getting me involved in the fabric of the Westport community through encouraging me to attend events, host events, and joining the board of directors for the Chamber. What I admire about Lisa is her ability to leverage her organizational skills and her passion to manifest a stronger Chamber of Commerce in Westport. In the two years I have had my business in Westport, I have seen Lisa transform the Chamber from a quiet organization on the fringe of Westport society to a lively, vibrant organization in the center of Westport society. She initiated several large-scale events, such as the First Citizen Awards Dinner (where local high school students and local adults were honored for there community service), the Health Expo (where local wellness practitioners demonstrated their offerings), and the Working Women's Luncheon (with big name guest speakers, such as former CEO of Xerox, Anne Mulcahy, and CEO of Bankwell, Peyton Patterson), as well as small but important events, such as the ginger bread competition and the Halloween painting competition, which connected local businesses with the community. I've had the chance to sit with Lisa on numerous occasions where we brain stormed ways to overcome challenges in the organization. She always considers my point of view, even when it goes against her own. She focuses on the solution and quickly puts ideas to action, which is fantastic. I value Lisa's determination, leadership and creativity and I consider myself lucky to have collaborated with her as a member of the Chamber and as a board director.
