Starting with a nine month internship, I worked my way up to Father, aka "Daddy" for first one and now two rambunctious boys. Duties include 24 hour surveillance, feeding, bouncing, wrestling, short order cooking, coparenting, tickling, discipline, reading, tucking in, tucking in again, waking at all hours of the night, hiking, laughing, and more. While at WJU, I was presented with this terrific opportunity just as the University was looking to reorganize its Marketing efforts. At BGCPC, I was able to work directly with the CEO and the Board of Directors to execute resource development strategies that exceeded our goals. I helped to position board members to cultivate and solicit major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, foundations, United Way, government agencies and local businesses. I also worked with the CEO to expand Club services into South Placer County.

After three years at Jessup, I was recruited to spearhead the University's marketing efforts. With a skilled, supportive and experienced marketing team, I was able to lay a lot of groundwork in a short amount of time - and have fun while doing it. Our team successfully rebranded the university, its logo, style guide. Promotional materials and campaigns were made scalable and ancillary processes and projects were brought under control and focused into larger marketing efforts so the University could cross-benefit from its own materials and offerings. Such fun and a great team that I keep in touch with to this day.

Post-internship I was looking for direction. This role helped me understand Higher Ed in general. Here I learned to excel at organization, program & process development, database management, data collection/interpretation for state accreditation, candidate communications, website maintenance, website design, event branding and much more.

    • Youth Intern
      • Sep 2009 - Aug 2010

I accepted a one year church internship where I planned and executed ministry events and mentoring relationships with teens. It was a great experience and helped me better understand my gifts and ministry work from the inside out. The market crash bottomed out. As the most recent hire at my firm, I was let go. I took work where I could find it. I managed an 1,100 unit facility from top to bottom, maintaining the grounds and units. Heck, I even lived on-site for 24-hour security. Ask me about some of the crazy things I experienced and you'll get a laugh. The market crash bottomed out. As the most recent hire at my firm, I was let go. I took work where I could find it. My first real opportunity out of college. I was picked up by a PLNU alum after turning down a position at a firm at Merrill Lynch San Diego. Here I had oversight of daily operations, quarterly reports, specific client requests, compliance with Federal Regulation & SEC and more. This is where I learned I enjoy maintaining databases and using technology for scalability. My first real opportunity out of college. This was a temporary position for a great little firm. The first firm in America to open practice with South America, hosting clients like Grupo Carso. I had two months' rent left in San Diego, so I pitched to them that I could fill the position while they looked for their best long term hire. They took it and we both benefited. I performed daily administrative work and other jobs like painting the office interior. This was a temporary position for a great little firm. I suited up every day and took the Metro downtown to a cutthroat environment, right out of the film Wall Street. Lots of evenings and weekends. My office was on the 34th floor. Not a numbered button on the elevator, but a backlit bull logo. I performed a database transfer from ACT! to Salesforce, including cleanup and merge. I received client calls, scheduled meetings and assembled quarterly reports as the market was crashing like a falling knife. It was quite eventful. No one jumped from a tall window, but some came close.
