Marissa embodies the phrase "consummate professional." She is extremely detail oriented and performs her academic advising supervising duties to the highest degree. She meets deadlines, ensures her staff is prepared for the rigors of advising, and stays abreast on the latest academic advising developments through professional development. I had the pleasure of working for Marissa for a year and a half and found her to be dedicated not only to student success but to her employees' success as well. Marissa cares about her employees and goes out of her way to ensure they have what they need to excel at their jobs, be it supplies, training, or support. Marissa always made time to listen to my ideas and made me feel valued as a member of her team. She never hesitated to incorporate a good idea into the plan and she always gave credit where it was due. She led by example, working diligently until the job was done and done right. She never put out a mediocre product as she knew that it would reflect poorly on the advising center as well as the university. Marissa is an excellent boss, an assiduous worker, and an asset to any company lucky enough to employ her. If she asked me to work for her again, I would do so without hesitation.

Marissa is a fantastic Supervisor and Academic Advisor for the College of Education at Texas State University - San Marcos! Since September 2008, I've been very fortunate in having Marissa as a mentor for academic advising and teaching. Students advised and taught by Marissa consistently make comments that they felt comfortable talking to her and would recommend her to others. I highly recommend Marissa Saenz a member of a team.
