The Moriarty Foundation is a not-for-profit initiative to enable Aboriginal families and communities to unlock their children's potential. Leading Australian Indigenous strategy and design company, Balarinji conceived the vision of the Foundation in 2010 to deliver two ground breaking and interrelated community programs in remote Australia: Indi Kindi and John Moriarty Football were launched in Borroloola NT in March 2012. Two-thirds of Aboriginal eight year olds fail to reach basic Australian benchmarks in literacy and numeracy. Indi Kindi applies new thinking and piloting of early childhood resources and pedagogy to change this statistic by improving global school readiness amongst 0-5 year old children in remote bush communities. John Moriarty Football is a program which uses football (soccer) to foster sporting talent, education, health and wellbeing for Indigenous 2-16 year olds. The Moriarty Foundation focuses and formalises Balarinji’s citizenship charter and not-for-profit activities, which have been central to the company’s business philosophy since its establishment in 1983. moriartyfoundation.org.au
