I had the extreme luck and pleasure to "manage" Chris (with him as Art Director, myself as Editor-In-Chief) on two different magazines at Future: PSM: 100% Independent PlayStation Magazine and Nintendo Power. I put "manage" in quotes because we really worked as a two-person team, and his contributions went well beyond his amazing design work. Chris is a naturally curious and thoughtful person, and a man of many talents. During our work together, he contributed not only great magazine designs, covers and page layouts, but also insightful editorial ideas, plus video production and original music for multimedia discs that used to accompany magazine issues. If he had the time to do so, Chris probably could've put the entire magazine together himself. I especially enjoyed the work we did redesigning the magazines, first PSM with an ambitious all-at-once, back-to-the-drawing-board reboot, and later, incremental changes to Nintendo Power that really transformed the book as it went along. Chris is not one to miss the forest for the trees; he has a great ability to identify what a product should be and what people want or need from it, and to ensure that all aspects of a project remain trained on that North Star. Chris is also ceaselessly positive, friendly and good tempered, bringing a unique and inspiring spark to any team. I learned so much working with him, and also just from friendly chats over lunch. He's one of the best people I've ever worked with, and I'd jump at the chance to work with him again.

Chris is a talented designer who also has an uncanny ability to communicate engagingly about design. He's entertaining and constantly surprising, which makes working with him fun but also produces great and original work. It's always a pleasure to see one's stories turn into professional-looking magazine pieces in the hands of a master designer. It's even more fun when that happens through back-and-forth discussion, banter, jokes and pointed questions that leave you smarter about design than you were before, and that's what working with Chris is like. I produced some of the magazine work I'm proudest of when working with him.
