At Simacan I worked in a devops scrum team on back-end micro services in Scala with various techniques and purposes. Asynchronous processing, data streaming, databases and HTTP API's were most common. The chain of loosely coupled services together provided a SaaS platform and tooling for real time management of transportation operations. During this time I learned a lot about software quality, automated testing of async applications, 24/7 monitoring, security and architecture. In my first assignment I worked in a scrum team as a Scala back-end developer. The following assignment was focussed on working on a C# back-end. However, the biggest take away of that project for the client as well as for me was that I was able to introduce scrum in this team. For the majority of 2017 I was working on a scala project again where I took the role of scrum master occasionally as well, which eventually led to being installed in a developer/scrum master role. For the rest of my time at Xebia I focussed on growing as a scrum master while continuing the work as a developer as well. Show less
