Formerly Rockwell Collins & B/E Aerospace Designed with the Collins team to develop and manufacture a cargo door & interior onto Air Inuit's deHavilland Dash 8 Q300 cargo aircraft. My role included various tasks & responsibilities, as follows. Mechanical Design • Developed designs in collaboration with designers, stress analysts, certification analysts, and manufacturing experts to integrate modifications to existing structures, from concept to final product. • Drafted engineering drawings for the manufacturing, assembly, and installation for the aircraft using various design software, including Solidworks, CATIA, and AutoCAD. • Designed custom modifications on primary structure (cargo door surround structure, skins, etc.) & interiors (liners, flooring, wire routing, etc.) with incorporation of modern manufacturing techniques (machining, welding, sheet metals, composites, 3D prints, etc.) to meet customer requirements. Manufacturing Support • Supported the operations team as a manufacturing support lead by managing engineering change orders & communications to ensure all issues were identified and tasks delegated. • Implemented basic GD&T techniques to ensure tolerances can be met, regardless of the variance in structural dimensions from aircraft to aircraft. Stress Analysis • Developed analysis tools & theory (custom VBA programs on Excel & Solidworks) to support the structural analysis of a modified aircraft via extensive research in mass, inertia, and various other engineering/mathematical principles. • Created reporting documentation to summarize weight, inertia, and balance analyses in generating preliminary and modification data for further use in GFEM analysis.

      • Jan 2016 - Apr 2017

Coordinated certification activities for Bombardier's Global 5000 & 6000 series and contributed to the development of various design projects. Roles included: Certification & Project Management • Generated compliance programs, modification data summaries, and other certification documents in accordance with TCCA/FAA/EASA regulations to demonstrate compliance via analysis, design evaluation, and specifications in the (re)certification of various modifications. • Managed various projects to ensure customer delivery deadlines are met, including collaboration with stakeholders such as TC authorized delegates, Bombardier Certification specialists, and Transport Canada, to establish familiarity with the modifications in order to support in findings of compliance. Analysis • Produced various analyses, including fire extinguisher toxicity levels, FMEA, and egress through a frangible door to ensure the safety of passengers & flight crew is maintained. • Reviewed modifications/installations by documenting the design changes to ensure compliance with transport category aircraft standards (TCCA, FAA, and EASA) was upheld. Design • Developed various modifications for primarily interior re-configurations, including the installation of a Dash 8 Q300 cargo interiors conversion kit.

As an Engineering Aide, I contributed to the province within the capacities of a utilities analyst and HVAC controls systems support. As a utilities analyst, I was responsible for analyzing utility data to support facility managers with building operations. In the role as the Controls systems support, I was tasked to commission HVAC systems through the maintenance of programming and inspections of facility controls systems. My various responsibilities break down as follows. Utilities Analyst • Contributed to the implementation of ENERGY STAR's Portfolio Manager to provincial utilities analyses in order to rate provincial building performance. • Managed utilities database to generate facility performance reports, budgets, and other reports for use in yearly operations and improvements. • Redeveloped the utilities budgeting process by replacing inefficient methodologies/calculators with new software & custom calculators to improve the forecasting accuracy and overall development time. HVAC Controls Systems Assistant • Inspected facilities for faulty actuators, sensors, and thermostats in HVAC systems through controlled tests of the devices in order to document them in reports for facility managers to act on. • Developed controls graphics for provincial DDC network and HMI touchscreen panels for ease of access in the HVAC, boiler, chiller, etc systems' performance. • Programmed & maintained controls sequences for daily building operations (using GCL+).

    • Team Administrator & Payload Section Lead
      • Sep 2011 - May 2015

Coordinated a team of nearly 50 members to develop a heavy-lift R/C aircraft for annual competition against international universities. Additionally, created an innovative payload system from design to manufacture. Key responsibilities of both positions included:• Collaborated with section leads to develop clear schedules outlining project tasks & milestones.• Allocated funds in a team budget, ensuring enough funds were available for build, test, and travel.• Manufactured several aircraft methodologically, using jigs for precision in critical components.• Investigated methods of improving the payload installation procedure and suspension methods.• Used systems engineering principles to perform project & design risk analyses on the aircraft.• Interpreted engineering drawings to machine components with band saws, drills, lathes, and mills.

    • Manufacturing & Composites Lead
      • Sep 2014 - Dec 2014

Developed a unique motorcycle cargo trailer design & manufacturing plan, to assist Cormer Group Industries with the expansion of their composites department. From the project planning to design, duties included:• Researched composite structures, coatings, and manufacturing procedures for body design.• Produced engineering drawings to indicate dimensions, welds, and locations of components.• Integrated North American laws & regulations into the design to ensure the trailer is roadworthy.• Designed the molds and jigs for use in the development of the body and frame using Solidworks.• Analyzed trailer model with CFD to determine the loading forces in a strong headwind scenario.
