The Geospatial Centroid offers resources for internal and external organizations seeking assistance with various geospatial technicalities. While the geospatial centroid can be considered a contractor for geospatial work, we provide the most support to researchers and graduate students within Colorado State University. My role as an Intern involves a wide range of skill sets to solve geospatial issues. While most projects are designated to my workload, I also assist the senior analysts with their research. During my time, I have led multiple projects that include creating a geospatial peer support program, designing, and publishing interactive web maps, image analysis, habitat suitability models, habitat monitoring, developing geospatial workflows, StoryMap publications, and publications ready Cartography. I specialize in multiple programs, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, QGIS, R, Python, and Adobe Illustrator. Show less

The Habitat Management Assistant for the Town of Vail is a project management role overseeing two projects, the Gore Creek Riparian Restoration Project, and the Noxious Weed Management Program. As a project manager for the riparian restoration project, I was required to have a detailed understanding of all the project sites, a deep understanding of species ecology and identification, and a strong ability to manage crews and coordinate with contractors. Additionally, I was required to manage the orders and plantings of up to 6000 individual plants per planting season, and install erosion control mechanisms, wander deterrents, and signage. I created a GIS survey that allows for restoration success monitoring and developed a spatial workflow that identified new restoration sites based on a series of weighted parameters. The Noxious Weed Program involved a broad understanding of state-listed noxious weeds and management strategies for each species. As the program manager, I was required to coordinate with the internal landscape crew as well as contractors the adopted management strategies of the Town of Vail to reach sustainability goals. Every year, I performed a town-wide survey of noxious weeds using Arc Collector and Survey 123 and communicated my findings to the management crews and private residences. I developed a GIS survey that streamlined communication for already managed areas, creating a simpler approach to weed management and avoiding returning to areas already managed by another crew member. I submitted weekly noxious weed education posts to social media and the local newspaper to communicate the impact of invasive plants to the public. I also attended community events to inform members of the laws and management strategies for invasive plants. I served on the Bicycle Friendly Community Committee and helped coordinate the development of safe bicycle infrastructure and submit applications for bicycle-friendly community recognition. As a Sustainability Program Assistant for Colorado Mountain College, I collaborated with students and community organizations to help implement sustainability in our community. My primary role was to strategize to cut waste on campus and assist in educational programs. During my time at Colorado Mountain College, I assisted with a program that diverted food waste by managing our own compost facility. Our team collaborated with a local food bank, and we donated unused foods from the dining hall weekly. Most of my time was spent working with two local non-profits. One of the non-profits I worked with was employing an educational program for restaurants in town on sustainable practices that would protect water quality. The other non-profit I collaborated with hosted the "Ski with a Naturalist" program at Steamboat Resort where I hosted many events for visitors and community members demonstrating my in-depth knowledge of Colorado ecosystems and the ability to identify a broad range of species.
