Key activities surround the maintenance of a business-critical automated file transfer and validation application running under a UNIX environment. This application is used to gather, among other data, financial transaction and sales information from over a thousand retail stations in the UK.Development of a suite of applications to monitor site data for completeness and validity. These applications, developed primarily using Perl and MS Excel VBA, perform automated analysis on the files received each day to quickly identify, among other things, technical faults or operational issues preventing normal site trading or data processing.
