Shell Global Solutions

  Based at Thornton Research Centre at the Stanlow Refinery, I was part of a two man team developing and maintaining the key Oracle applications that were used to support the research and development of new fuels and oils and the supply to the McClaren F1 team.



Royal Insurance

  Recruited to design and build an insurance claims analysis model on Teradata technology.



British Telecom

• Database Consultant (Contract)

  • Jan 1987 - Aug 1987

  Based in Ipswich I was taken on to be the main liaison between Oracle UK and BT. This involved setting up the largest Oracle cluster on DEC VAX in Europe at the time.

  My first post after University was as a C developer in the financial services sector with clients such as Chase and Barings.My most satisfying assignment was with Oracle UK where I was one of a two man team developing the first release of SQL Text Retrieval, Oracle's free text searching extension to it's marketing leading RDBMS.
