In this position, I implement a comprehensive teaching strategy based on diverse student learning styles using various instructional approaches. Stimulating communication with parents and continuously assessing student performance and progress to ensure skills are mastered are at the forefront of my success as a teacher. • Facilitated class for kindergarten students alongside 1 full-time teacher assistant; collaborated with fellow teachers to cultivate a supportive and safe learning atmosphere. • Taught 45 minutes of reading and writing daily using Columbia’s Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project materials; boosted reading level from 30% of students reading at early kindergarten level to 90% of students reading at first grade or higher level with expectation that 100% of students will read at or above kindergarten benchmark by summer.
