      - Create, test, and calibrate a machine-vision measurement system utilizing a scientific camera, bi-telecentric optics, and image acquisition software to monitor electrode orientation during the production of high-voltage electric fields for the Radium-225 electric dipole moment (EDM) search experiment. Determine and quantify sources of error and uncertainty in experimental designs. Determine accuracy and precision of measurements utilizing mathematical analysis and gauge block comparisons. - Utilize programming knowledge and experience to create an edge detection and optical measurement program in LabVIEW's Vision Development Module and Vision Acquisition software suites. Real-time, independent learning and implementation of LabVIEW's data-flow programming language, digital imaging techniques, and image acquisition equipment. - Calculate photoelectric effect frequencies for various electrode materials (niobium, copper, titanium, etc...). Calculate skin and eye hazard thresholds for various lasers. Maintain laboratory equipment inventory records. - Work independently and as part of a team of researchers to safely create and contain high-voltage electric fields for the electrode conditioning program of the Radium-225 experiment. - Obtain necessary training and education to work with and among hazardous chemicals, compressed gasses, high-voltages, lasers, radioactive sources, and vacuums.
