Celia is one of the few artists that unifies social meaning of believable intensity with a lovely decorative impact. A great rushing design impulse also drives Celia's heightened colour use. A rhythmic organisation evolves fast on the canvas, so anything pictured is also patterned. And the patterning produces angular and flowing distortions, departures from depiction. Within the look, though, is Celia's human sympathy.
