As my colleague in the White House I can say that Neeraj Salhotra is an honest, hardworking individual. As he worked in the office of Management and Administration, my office often would ask for his office's assistance and we consistently received excellent service. Neeraj also displays a positive attitude and countenance no matter what task he undertakes and that makes working in a high-stress environment like the White House all the more rewarding.

After learning about the incredible disparities in the student to college counselor (400:1) and the challenge this creates for low-income students, I co-founded a non-profit organization dedicated to pairing first-generation high school students with college students from the same background. The college mentors check-in with their mentee weekly to guide them through high school and the college application process. We then pair college students with young professionals in their career field to help guide them into the workforce and build social capital. Through this dual-layer mentoring, we believe we can help more students matriculate to and graduate from college and ultimately enter the workforce. Show less

After seeing many of my students unable to access the opportunities of their higher-income peers, I co-founded a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting underserved students to transformative opportunities. We are committed to creating a mobile-compatible website that features inspirational videos to motivate students to believe college is possible and then summer opportunities to expose students to college. These programs build social capital and, research shows, increase college applications, persistence, and graduation. Show less
