Gary and I started on the same day at Pelican Imaging, both as Principal Engineers. By the end of the day, we were cracking each other up, having fun digging through Pelican’s source code. Gary is very smart - top that off with character and integrity of the highest caliber. For a couple of years, our teams worked hard and very creatively to implement the

Gary is my manager for the last eighteen month, and it is a great experience working under his supervision. I work as imaging researcher where I develop imaging algorithms for camera pipeline. Gary has been extremely supportive throughout all of my projects. In many cases I run into issues for example, explaining part of a complicated algorithm, getting input and output of an algorithm, or simply brainstorm on an algorithm. In any of such situations if I ask for help from Gary I get instant feedback. Gary would either talk with me or even sit with me to write code to resolve the issue. If he thinks anybody else can help me with the problem he would make sure I get support. His positive attitude toward solving critical issues has inspired me in many cases to reach my goals. Apart from projects, he has been very supportive for my other official issues so that I can continue to work on my projects without worry. A great quality of Gary is that he loves to share his experiences and knowledge with all of the engineers during break hours; which created a very healthy work environment. Due to the nature of my work I need to attend technical conferences, and Gary has been always enthusiastic to send me in those conferences. He has been very helpful to talk both before and after the conference event. I had the chance to attend one conference with him. He is very good in understanding technical talks. Furthermore, I have noticed he is very good in networking. One quality I have to mention about Gary is that he is an excellent writer, he has inspired me to improve my writing skill for technical reports. Gary puts every effort on every single day to make sure all of the engineering groups can successfully complete their projects in due time. In a nutshell, Gary is the driving force of the engineering team, without him we would not have been able to successfully complete our projects. He is a great person as well, he understands family emergencies, he helps to create better work life balance in the office. Lastly, I always wait to get a nice box of chocolate from him before the holiday season, nobody wants to miss that. If situation arises, I would love to work under his supervision without any doubt.
