Consultant: (1) Review existing literature in political science and sociology, focusing on the work of Antanas Mockus and colleagues, on how established cultural norms can be changed; (2) Observe and document what the shop looks like during typical work days and the behavior of shop users in order to establish a base line; (3) Conduct formal or informal surveys or interviews to determine the attitudes and beliefs of current and former members; (4) Working with the Executive Director and Chair, develop interventions to change existing norms and behavior patterns, which ideas are informed by theory, suggestions from members and practical insights; (6) Maintain a journal with observations and a description of the different ideas considered, dismissed and tried; (5) At the end of the consulting period, write a brief report that describes the effort, the results to date, and recommendations for future actions.
