226 Buckeye St. Woodland CA I started off working on simple tasks, such as making copies, organizing books, folding brochures, and other tasks that were easily done. As I started working more, I moved into working in the Interlibrary Department. These books would than have to be checked in and sent to patrons of other branches. Majority of my time as a Page, I would work with the interlibrary books, but I would also still work on simple tasks asked of me. Sometimes I would even work in processing books and checking them in. I wouldn't work on that as often. Processing the books is where I would add bar codes, stamps, and call numbers to the books.Get them ready to be itemized.

Turin Area, Italy At an elementary elementary school, I volunteer from 12:30pm to 4:00pm twice a week. I work with 2 third grade classes that I will start lunch with. After lunch I collaborate with the teacher on the lesson plan for the afternoon. Until 2:30, the children could go outside and have recess. I normally play and interact with them. It could be a tad difficult because of the language barrier. They do not speak english very well, nor I speak Italian very well. They do not speak english very well, nor I speak Italian very well. After recess, they go to their desks, and I will teach them some english phrases/words. There is always different topics for each week and class. It is a wonderful experience teaching these children a little bit of a different language. Every week I always have a good time. I enjoy working with children and teaching them different things. But not only am I teaching them something, but they as well teach me in return. It is helpful being submerged in their presence because it is an aid at learning the language I am studying. Show less
