The main work domain at Azamgarh Range was to keep a discreet watch on radical elements, certain madrasas and also collect information on linkages between Azamgarh and mafia operatives at Mumbai. Specially deputed as DIG Prisons (First IPS Officer to be appointed) of Lucknow and Meerut region following disturbance and violence in some of the prisons and wasrelieved of the charge after restoring normalcy in prisons within one month. During 2005-2006, also held the important charge of DIG Security Lucknow on three separate occasions. Was first posted when there was a terrorist attack on the Ramjanam Mandir- Babri Masjid shrine on 5 th July 2005 and the Security Schemes of all three disputed shrines and the Taj Mahal Agra had to be revised. These were revised under personal supervision in a record one month time, presented before the Union Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs and once approved, made the schemes operational after purchase of necessary hardware and software. The work domain also included supervision of VVIP/VIP security and 42 earmarked vital installations of the State. As Deputy Inspector General, Provincial Armed Constabulary, main responsibility was to ensure timely deployment of Armed PAC companies in law and order situations, Shrine Security & VIP Security; maintaining discipline and morale of the armed forces who had to work in hard conditions and looking after the welfare of the families of the Jawans.
