      • Sep 2018 - Present

I am an Oxford trained teacher. I teach Key stage 3, 4 & 5. I am well versed with the New GCSE curriculum and have a good success rate with GCSE resit students. In the summer of 2019 my year 11 class achieved a very strong Alps grade 1 with a score 1.36. Last year my GCSE class achieved 41% grade 9 & 48% grade 8. . I taught Statistics and Pure Maths to A Level Maths students. 7 out 12 students achieved A* - B grades. I am the Debate coordinator. This year we have attended 10 trips, double the minimum number of trips expected for the year. We won our first debate at the Oxford School Debating Competition and one of our students was awarded best speaker at the English Speaking Union Churchill Public Speaking Competition. We won 6 awards at Model United Nations. Clapton Girls' Academy is in the top 50% of schools in the Debate Mate final league tables. CGA also won an ESU Highly Commended Oracy Award. Below are some examples of projects I have coordinated as Debate Coordinator: -We had an interesting Public Debate on Extremism – this was part of a project with VotesforSchools who are working with the police Counter Terrorism Youth Advisory Group (and with a little help from Hollyoaks) and Educate against Hate. Extremism was further discussed in more depth at Global Intelligence, where students discuss current affairs. This debate was based on material from PSHCE classes in an effort to empower the student body to share their opinions on what they are learning. -To promote Global Intelligence, we invited students across the school to take part in the Big Legal Lesson, a national activity. -The students engaged in debating are very passionate about their clubs and shared this with the rest of the CGA community in a public debate about Henrietta Lacks. I am part of an Academy steering group which aims to support the progress and attainment of students from black African and Caribbean heritage groups. Show less

    • Community Representative
      • Apr 2019 - Present

In April 2019, I was elected by over 110 people in my community to be their Community Representative on the Steering Group. The steering group aims to work with the Council through “Co-Production” to deliver the regeneration plans for the area. My role is to keep the council accountable and to ensure that the wider community is engaged in the regeneration process. The steering group and I aim to ensure that a wide range of people within our communities can co-create, contribute and participate with the council in the design development of their estate regeneration. We share problems, find solutions and support our community “experts” in using their experience to be central to the design process of delivering new homes that meet the needs of the community and creates a place where our community will feel proud to live. As a steering group we: • Provide feedback, suggestions and recommendations to the Council, to fully inform its decision making, in respect of Council reports and other reports relating to the design, viability and delivery of the programme • Provide a platform for both the Council and community representatives to propose items for consultation on specific matters relating to the effective delivery of the regeneration programme • Ensure the community is fully engaged and consulted in delivering the Steering Group’s remit, and provide feedback to the wider community on its work • Participate in the procurement of services for the Regeneration programme • Form Sub Groups as required, to review and discuss topics matters relating to the Regeneration programme which require a dedicated resource and/or more detailed consideration for a specified period of time, to reach a consensus to be presented to the Steering Group. • Form Working Groups, as required, to deal with routine programme management matters relating to the regeneration programme that require dedicated time outside of the Steering Group meetings Show less

    • Deputy Head of House & Mathematics Teacher
      • Sep 2017 - Aug 2018

My main expertise is my mathematical knowledge. I keep the highest standards of mathematics teaching and learning and offer pastoral care and commitment to my House and form class. To ensure that I continue to teach high quality lessons, I attend various courses and training programmes with organisations such as the Cambridge Maths Hub to conduct research which will enable me to share best practices with peers and deliver high quality teaching. I have delivered workshops and CPD sessions on Mathematical Reasoning to my entire maths department. I have previously conducted research on gifted and talented children, the growth mind-set and on how tracking affects their academic self-concept which is a great area of interest. As Deputy Head of House at Impington Village College I am in charge of progress for KS3. I am currently on the IMLDP programme for middle leaders where I am educated on topics such as leadership vs management in schools and how to effectively use data in schools. I use SISRA to analyse student data and to monitor student progress in order to determine where extra intervention is required. I have developed good relationships with students who are below target in some subjects; we regularly meet to have conversations on progress. I provide interventions including sessions where students can have extra time to try to make progress in subjects which they are finding particularly challenging. I also run a rewards shop every so often where students can get rewards for their achievements, efforts, improvement and contributions in and outside of school. Show less

    • Mathematics Teacher

I taught KS3, KS4 and KS5. My robust subject knowledge allowed me to stretch students. In SLT observations I was praised for stretching the students; giving clear explanations; encouraging students to justify their answers and reasoning. I allow students to engage in investigative tasks, collaborative work and problem solving. I employ flipped learning and exploratory tasks where students are able to make mathematical discoveries and derivations themselves. They should also articulate their findings using the correct terminology and justify themselves. I offered one-to-one tuition to underachieving students. There were many intersecting factors which are leading to underachievement such as poor attendance, disorganisation etc. Here it was not only important to support them academically but to also nurture the life skills necessary to influence progress. This responsibility therefore required immediate, clear and effective communication with parents, teaching staff and other persons involved. My ability to support students with special needs has also broadened. I also taught a GCSE resit group outside of school hours. I help built their confidence by instilling a deeper understanding of mathematics, encouraging student-led investigations where they could make their own derivations, whilst developing their literacy and numeracy skills. Nevertheless, I also ensured that students become well versed with the exam technique and could approach worded problems. I continuously marked set assessments for them, highlighting any misconceptions or areas of development. Sometimes I gave questions which required them to draw understanding from different topics, so they did not forget topics but retained the progress they have made in key areas. I am also offered tuition to GCSE Pupil Premium students who are very vulnerable. With these students, it was very important to offer a safe space, follow through with routines and build trust early on. Show less

    • MISS ELOQUENCE 2014
      • Sep 2014 - Sep 2015

Through the auspices of my services to charitable causes I have gained a fair amount of knowledge of the social conditions and the political process within Africa, the continent seen globally as a whole. In contrast, I have been sufficiently versatile to have won the Miss Eloquence Award at the Miss Ghana UK 2014 Contest due to my engaging public speaking skills and effective campaigning skills. Some of the latter have involved raising awareness of the genetically provenanced sickle cell anaemia within the UK-based expatriate Ghanaian community, as this genetic condition is a potentially life-threatening blood disorder common amongst people of African and Caribbean origin. I have also won this award due to running a successful ‘Stop FGM’ Campaign, making effective use of social media. The permanent eradication of the practice of female genital mutilation is my prime goal as a global citizen. Show less

I supported during appointments, be it a mortgage quote or an account opening. I sat in appointments from when customers needed a quote to when customer were given an offer. I got to know these customers well. I also did many counter observations, with the confidence that I can do the tasks of a cashier. I was in charge of Customer Satisfaction. I was able to encourage most people to use the machines and was able to shorten the queues very quickly. I also encouraged customers in specific cases to upgrade their accounts. My communication skills developed vastly, as I had to speak to all kinds of customers from different backgrounds, with different queries. Show less

I worked in the Technology division at Goldman Sachs. I worked in Firmwide Systems - Market Risk Technology, specifically as part of the Straight Through Processing Team, working on the automation and workflow of the firm’s various risk reports. My role was to ensure consistency across all the risk reports produced for the business. I did this by carefully analyzing risk reports, searching for any significant or formatting differences between the reports. I was responsible for creating and maintaining tools which will allow analysts and managers to easily access the specific risk information they require, at any level of granularity. My role involved programmatically conducting deep analysis on highly technical complex risk tress and presenting data intuitively, using an in-house language. I was part of the European Women in Technology, a network within Goldman Sachs. I participated in the Girls in IT initiative, actively supporting its aim of developing professional women. Show less
