MSW Intern/LEND Trainee
-
Sep 2011 - May 2012
As a LEND Fellow at the Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD)/New York Medical College, I am involved in weekly seminars on topics relating to clinical and policy work for individuals with disabilities in the general population. As a LEND fellow, I am also a member of research team, focusing on the analysis of data from the Westchester County Children's Advocacy Center. Our research focuses on assessing the impact of physical and sexual abuse on children with and without disabilities, and how these factors impact access to mental health services. As an MSW Intern, I am involved in the process of parental interviews for parents seeking to begin the process of being reunited with their children, who currently reside in foster care. I also have a caseload of two clinical clients, who I see for individual/play therapy in the Family Program of WIHD. Show less

Social Work Intern
-
Sep 2010 - May 2011
As an intern at this educational facility, I participated as a member of the Youth Development Team. This collection of professionals sought to determine students in the school population who were deemed to be at risk of behavioral and educational issues. Over the course of my time at this location, I saw ~10 middle school-age students for individual counseling sessions, as well assisting in crisis counseling for other students within the building. I also served as the facilitator of a social skills/personal development group for 14 8th grade males in the student population. I also served as an assistant to the school liaison for students in temporary housing, and assisted in assuring that the needs of this sub-group within the school population were met. Show less
