I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for JoElla (Jody) Barnes. Jody and I worked together for eight years at BiOWiSH Technologies where we developed live microbial products for the agronomy, animal health, human health, and water treatment industries. Jody is an energetic, well organized worker with experience in animal health and nutrition, microbiology, aquaculture, quality assurance, laboratory management, GMP, and HACCP protocols. In addition, she has experience managing a multi-million-dollar R&D budget that includes several external partnerships. Jody displays a bias toward action that generates results. She spent several weeks in the laboratories of California Polytechnic State University running critical microbiological assays. She also traveled to Vietnam and to work with our local business partner ShimpVet on aquaculture product efficacy trials. She worked in the laboratories of Dr. Steve Watts at University of Alabama and conducted product efficacy trials with Dr. Mark Lawrence’s group at Mississippi State University. Her work contributed fundamental understanding of BiOWiSH’s aquaculture and animal feed products. Jody has experience working with cross functional, multidisciplinary teams. She managed BiOWiSH’s global aquaculture R&D program, working with employees and external partners located around the world. She has excellent people skills and works well with a diverse workforce. I believe Jody would be a valuable asset for any organization.

JoElla managed my research laboratory. I chose her because of her abilities in molecular biology, but she was even more valuable in coordination. She scheduled tasks and people, supported graduate students, and hired and supervised hourly employees. She was appreciated as a core component of the team.
