I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Moore while she was an intern at Usher's New Look. When I first met Ms.Moore, she had been assigned to work with the Chief Development Officer, as I was assisting them with their grant development, she also was asked to assist me as well. I found Ms. Moore to be very engaged in the process and an excellent learner. She grew to be vital to the grant application process for the organization, ably understanding the details and nuances of the effort. In this role, she also excelled in interpersonal relationships, not only within the organization (development touches all departments) but external to the organization as she had to interact with consultants such as I, funders/donors, and the Usher's New Look community. Because of Ms. Moore's work ethic and desire to continue in the nonprofit sector, I continue to mentor and support her successes.

As the Centennial Scholars Graduate Assistant I served as a mentor and the newly initiated Alumni Impact Program (AIP) Coordinator. Over the two years I mentored and coached over 20 undergraduate students of various ethnic backgrounds, and conducted over 160 hire interviews. My duties included facilitating weekly group meetings, one-on-one individual meetings, and hosting study halls available for all CSP undergraduates. As the AIP Coordinator I recruited and retained participants; paired participants; provided mentoring tips; created, updated, and maintained program database in Excel; planned and coordinated program events; conducted program evaluations, and submitted program reports.

While at Usher's New Look, I was introduced to grant management and development. Using the Foundation Center and Blackbaud/Raisers Edge, I conducted grant research, wrote grant proposals, tracked donor information, managed the foundation prospect and solicitation calendar, and developed funding reports. I participated in staff and event planning, program evaluation, and sponsor/partnership meetings. Additionally, I appeared at Powered By Service training's and Spark Center pop-up events, and served on the alumni panel at the Mogul In Training retreat. Administratively, I prepared donor packets, assisted with writing newsletters for the board, and managed databases.
