Jonathan Chechile

To whom it may concern, It is with great joy that I recommend to you. I have known Jonathan for over 15 years, first through mutual friends and then over time as friends who were engaged in Doctoral studies together. I have watched him go from church intern to associate pastor to church planter to Dr. Jonathan Romig and in the process, become a gifted pastor and leader. I can confidently say that Jonathan is capable, studious, thoughtful, and committed to faithfulness. He is a man who has the ability to continually evaluate himself and the ministries he leads and is willing to work to strengthen and improve himself and the ministries. One of our mutual friends who attend the church he planted spoke about this and commented that the fact Jonathan and the church were willing to try new things -- from restructuring the worship service more than once to trying new ministries to seeing where the members are passionate about serving- was incredibly refreshing. He also commented that the effect of this willingness to evaluate and try new things was that Cornerstone never felt stuck in its ways. This observation flowed from his willingness to do careful evaluation and continually work to improve. Additionally, he is a man who has the right mix for starting organizations and leading organizations that are in transition. At Cornerstone Church, he was heavily involved internally with various ministry teams, and at the same time, he was careful to focus on investing in the long-term vision of the church and was intentional about taking the time to get to know people in his church, and to invest in members of the congregation by meeting regularly for one-on-one Bible study and other forms of congregational care. Furthermore, he is a man who is willing to respectfully listen to and engage with viewpoints that differ from his, rather than listening insincerely or trying to shut the person or viewpoint down. There is a gracious thoughtfulness to him that stands out in this culture that is increasingly characterized by an unwillingness to listen to the views of others that must be noted and commended. Finally, he is a loyal friend and wise counselor. When I was in a season of transition from one church to another I found his questions, insights, and encouragement to be invaluable. I highly commend him to you. Sincerely Rev. Jonathan Chechile

Jonathan served as my pastor and mentor for several years. He is extremely hard working and intelligent. I’ve always been impressed by his motivation and ability to constantly learn new things. He’s not afraid to step out of his comfort, and to push others to do the same.
