I have been fortunate to work with Cynthia Cosco at Crushpad since the 2007 harvest. As Lab Manager of a successful custom crush facility, Cindy deftly oversees fermentation and aging data for over 1500 wines each year. With hundreds of clients depending on accurate data collection and analysis to determine which course of action to take, Cindy’s attention to detail is paramount. However, despite the number of barrels she manages, Cindy doesn’t slip into the trap of viewing wine as a series of faceless numbers and analyses. In addition to handling the wines themselves, Cindy has been instrumental for introducing large-scale improvements in the way the wines are analyzed. She has successfully incorporated state-of-the-art equipment and clearly articulated standard operating procedures. Cindy’s influence is felt far beyond the winery lab. She is passionately dedicated to the success of those around her and goes out of her way to assist others. Cindy routinely helps me prepare for wine education classes. While doing so, she cheerfully arms me with important hows and whys of wine science and the impact it has on the beverage’s taste. I would be remiss if I did not mention Cindy’s incredible kindness and generosity. She is a unique and exceptional winemaker - smart, caring, and dedicated.

It is a pleasure to work for Cynthia. She runs the Crushpad lab with a clear direction, a great sense of humor and great technical knowledge. Cynthia taught me quite a bit about wine chemistry and how to run critical tests on must and finished wine. The lab can be a very stressful place but Cynthia does a fantastic job of work prioritization, efficient accurate lab results and calm heads prevailing. She is a very organized, detail oriented and fun person.
