I share my Deaf World with hearing college students who want to learn sign language. They learn many ASL rules. The first rule on the first day is there is no voice allowed in my classroom. The students learn about the Deaf culture and its norms; various deaf people who impacted our American history, and Deaf history. All students in my classes have a unique window of opportunity looking into my past experiences being a deaf person. They emerge into my Deaf World by using their their hands… Show more I share my Deaf World with hearing college students who want to learn sign language. They learn many ASL rules. They learn that their hands is their voice, their facial expressions is their tone in their voice, and with practice, they can communicate with anyone who knows signs. I love this job being their teacher. Show less I share my Deaf World with hearing college students who want to learn sign language. They learn many ASL rules. Sharing my deaf world with the homeschooled kids. I returned to HomeSchool Connections in 2012. I taught classes in the early 2000. I love teaching secondary students. It's so much fun to watch them blossom in their interactions. I love bridging communication with all ages. Sharing my deaf world with the homeschooled kids. • Volunteer Ambassador
      • Mar 2011 - Present

As an ambassador I present about Dogs for the Deaf with my service dog. We perform sound demonstrations of my dog alerting me. I explain who the organization is; the types of service dogs they place; the process in getting a certified hearing dog; the requirements; etc. The presentation is free of charge. This is one way to spread awareness about how service dogs work for deaf people. As an ambassador I present about Dogs for the Deaf with my service dog.
