      I support and encourage equity, diversity, and inclusion in Metro’s internal and external decision-making. I report to the CEO and work closely with the Human Capital and Talent Development Director to head Metro’s internal diversity and inclusionary efforts, lead Metro’s Title VI and DBE programs, and support Metro’s EEO program and compliance with ADA. Select duties and responsibilities: -Lead and perform a variety of professional duties in support of Metro’s internal and external diversity and inclusion efforts. -Draft, develop, maintain, and monitor Metro’s diversity, equity, inclusion & justice plan. -Prepare studies and reports to evaluate and monitor compliance with civil rights statutes and regulations; draft and coordinate the Triennial Title VI Program. -Oversee all aspects of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program -Support the development and implementation of training, activities, and collaborations to enhance inclusion and advance learning on unconscious bias including but not limited to providing coaching, consultation and training to improve cross-cultural communication. -Lead intra- and inter-agency coordination in support of equity initiatives. -Provide responses, both internally and externally, to civil rights inquiries; supports/leads investigations on civil rights, discrimination, Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities (ADA) and others. -Work closely with employees including those covered by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and ensure compliance with CBA for Metro’s initiatives, programs and policies as related to equity, diversity and civil rights. -Research best practices and tracks critical legal issues encompassing civil rights, equity, diversity and inclusion.       UWO is currently transitioning the University Diversity Officer (UDO) position from a dual role to a dedicated position (formerly the UDO was also the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Support of Inclusive Excellence). In my interim capacity, I continued the work of the previous UDO (Dr. Damira Grady), served on the Chancellor's Cabinet, and supported university leadership in preparing for the permanent UDO. We envision this space to be a supportive environment for students from historically excluded and/or structurally marginalized groups as well as an educational space for all. The Intersection features a lounge with study/workspace, a mini refrigerator, microwave, complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, social justice-themed board games, and information on campus and community resources.       In 2012, the U.S. State Department awarded the UT Center for Sport, Peace, and Society a $1.2 million dollar grant to be the cooperative partner with SportsUnited for then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Empowering Women and Girls through Sport initiative. This grant program involves sports visitors, sports envoys, and the Global Sports Mentoring Program. I assisted in the coordination of programming for when the sports visitors are in Knoxville and other host cities. I also helped with other parts of the grant management process as needed. Show less
