I worked in the food and beverage department at Novotel. This involved working very long hours as there were multiple weddings and Christmas parties that took place during my time there. I had to learn how to do the job very quickly which was a challenge especially when I had to complete tasks without any help, but I also learnt how to work well with new people and how important it was to maintain communication across different departments in the hotel. Debate Mate Schools is an educational charity that runs after-school clubs in areas of high child poverty across the UK (and in other areas of the world) to teach them the skills for debating and even organize competitions for all the schools that take part. As part of this, I had to lead my own group of children on my own every week and make sure they would be fully prepared to enter the competitions and were enjoying the club. I also completed extra training that allowed me to be a judge at those competitions. Show less
