I became a member of the instructional leadership team and worked to implement and sustain school and network wide instructional systems, norm on best practices, and plan and facilitate professional development. Along with the leadership team, I evaluated teachers' effectiveness using the Tennessee TEAM rubric. In July 2017, my role changed again as I began coaching 5-8th social studies teachers in addition to the ELA department. I continued to work to increase the quality of classroom instruction by acting as an instructional supporter, curriculum and content specialist, and professional learning facilitator. At the end of the school year, I was awarded the school's Leadership Award. In the spring of 2017 and 2018, we were again named a Tennessee Rewards School for Progress, which means our school was in the top 5 percent of Tennessee schools for student growth. In ELA, our department TVAAS (or Tennessee Value-Added Assessment System, which measures student growth year over year) score moved from a 3 at the end of the 2014-2015 school year to a 5 at the end of the 2016-2017 school year, which we maintained during the 2017-2018 school year. A 5 represents significant evidence that the school's students made more progress than the growth standard.

As a School Manager at one of these summer school sites, I developed and maintained logistical systems, protocols, and procedures to maximize school-site efficiency and ensure corps members and staff could operate effectively at my school site. Additionally, I facilitated communication between staff, corps members, the school site, and the university site. At the end of the summer, 100% of the TFA corps members I served rated their summer school experience as excellent.

Throughout my corps member commitment, I engaged in a full schedule of professional development, including seminars, workshops, individual and group reflections, readings, and content teams specific to teaching license area. As a corps member, I taught English Language Arts and Compensatory Reading daily to over eighty seventh grade students at Coleman Middle School in Greenville, MS. Additionally, I worked to improve my school’s library by obtaining 406 novels through a national Rotary grant in the Spring of 2013.
