  I teach biochemistry, molecular cell biology, histology, biological function, and Augustana’s capstone course for our biology major which uses the history and philosophy of biology as a foil for students to reflect on their educational experience. In addition, I am active in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

  I was Chair of our Science Dept for the first 10 years while Associate Professor. I later took on the role of Associate Dean (Teaching) for three years after Augustana became a Faculty of the University of Alberta.

  My role was to develop SoTL capacity by helping instructors become scholarly teachers by facilitating their ability to reflect on their practice in light of the pedagogical literature. I also helped organize the Teaching and Learning Institute, administered our Peer Consultation Program, co-ran a Faculty Learning Community, and co-developed a SoTL Scholars program. All of these were done in collaboration with the good people who work in the CTL of the UofA.   Augustana University College became a Faculty of the University of Alberta in 2005. I was a divisional registration officer for a couple of years before I stepped into the role of Acting Chair during the year before I was promoted to Associate Professor.
