While I was vice chancellor for strategic communications at Winston-Salem State University, I had the pleasure of working as Ms. Huff’s supervisor in her role as the digital communications strategy manager. Responsive, reliable, and extremely bright, Ms. Huff brought a depth of knowledge in digital communications while also understanding the full breadth of the roles within a modern marketing and communications office. I was continuously impressed by the knowledge she brought to the table and her dedication to staying on top of the latest trends in her field. She combines sharp analysis skills with a strong instinct for messaging that resonates with the audiences she serves. Her analytical approach allows her to bring data to her recommendations while her intuition allows her to translate between technical team members and creatives. She successfully led many critical projects for the university and built cross-campus support for new initiatives and approaches. While Ms. Huff’s professional acumen is immensely valuable to WSSU, she is also a great team player who was able to bridge silos and bring voices to the table. She is highly reliable and continuously strives for excellence, and was responsible for helping to develop strong practices for project management within our division. Laura is a hard-working team-player who has built the university's social media and digital marketing efforts from ground zero. She understands the tools of social media, and is eager to help her co-workers learn how to use them. In addition, she is frequently called upon to help write and create the content for digital marketing efforts on behalf of some of her university client, and her copy is clean, error-free and promotional in nature. In addition, in her previous role in promoting university cultural events, she often wrote press releases and feature stories for inclusion in on-campus publications as well as off-campus media.
