I've recently launched an independent creative studio in the heart of Wakefield with fellow graphic designer Alex McIntosh. Officially launched in 2019, Rhubarb Design House specialise in brand identity, illustration, design for web and print-based communications. Our work covers a wide range of sectors, from food and drink through to culture, leisure and education. Previous work covers everything from small start-ups to large corporate organisations. Our most recent project has seen us launch the new branding for Experience Wakefield, part of which included designing the 'Summer in Wakefield' event guide which was delivered to every household in the district! Working in a small family-run studio has given me the opportunity to take the lead on several projects, from initial concept through to final delivery, liaising with clients at every step. Alongside a multitude of rebranding and campaign work for the NHS, Royal British Legion and University of London, I’ve also had the chance to help launch Prints for Charity — an online print shop which raises money for local charities. Working in a fast-paced studio environment, I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects from 3D displays and packaging, to vehicle graphics, website visuals and corporate identity. I had the privilege to work for a number of high-profile clients, including Hard Rock Cafe, First Direct Arena, Direct Line Group, Electrolux and Stonegate, of which the latter runs over 770 bars and venues across the UK. As part of the Club’s Communications Department, my main role was to help produce the Club’s award-winning Matchday Magazine. Working to a strict deadline of just three days, the design of each 80-page publication was challenging yet highly rewarding. Every aspect of the Club’s design was done in-house, including large format stadium graphics, marketing material, e-flyers, merchandise and scoreboard graphics. Other duties included covering First Team games on social media, filming Club events and assisting with general matchday duties and press activity. Show less

In August 2011 I was offered a placement at WPA Pinfold as part of the company’s Design Academy, a programme which bridges the gap between education and employment. Alongside a structured syllabus, I was also a member of the Communications Team and worked on a wide range of projects including branding and design work for the University of Leeds, British Council, Theakstons, npower and National Grid.
