Bio
Greg Rickabaugh
I had the pleasure of working for Bobby Burns first as a reporter and photographer in Williamston, N.C., and then later as a staff writer at The Daily Reflector in Greenville, N.C. I learned much from his guidance. In fact, he was more of a mentor than a boss, coaching me in areas where I needed it while trusting me in areas where he knew I excelled. I specifically recall when Bobby identified my love for graphics and incorporated that into the newspaper's repertoire. It seemed to me that Bobby always relied on the strengths of his staff and shied away from micro-managing anyone. Also, he was an effective editor because he walked the talk, setting a good example for others and displaying a positive work ethic. Bobby was always a great listener whose primary goal was to utilize the talents of his staff and create the best product possible.
