Bio
Dexter Fenton
Peter is an inspiring manager and leader, driving the success of projects through the application of his extensive engineering knowledge and his exceptional ability to delegate tasks across an interdisciplinary team. Having reported directly to Peter as part of the PG1 Product Development team, I can comment on his profound ability to connect to his team members, motivating the efficient and effective production of deliverables in a high pressure, highly regulated environment. It has been a pleasure to work for Peter and I aspire to emulate what he has demonstrated a great manager can be.
Richard Lillington
Peter is an exceptional young engineer. He has a clear view of his career goals and is working hard to achieve them. He has already developed very strong technical abilities, and he continues to grow these in ever more demanding roles at work and also through part-time postgraduate study. As well as solid technical skills Peter has strong leadership characteristics, being an excellent communicator, decisive in terms of what is important, and pragmatic as to what might be achieved. A passionate advocate of continuing professional development, Peter is active with his professional institution, and encourages others to engage with such institutions to meet their career development aims and improve technology awareness. Peter has the capability and character to go a very long way.

Research Engineer

My research complimented my business role in validation method development, presenting a case study of a resource sensitive approach to failure mode characterisation in new product development. The generalised problem-solving method presented in the thesis presents a simple model for product engineering, with a focus on meaningful planning and reflection as one enabler for firms moving towards Virtual Product Engineering. The specific case study presented the Delphi Method for expert elicitation, and Design of Experiments, emphasising the role of structured experimentation in product development. The Doctorate also included postgraduate level taught elements from the engineering faculty of the University of Bristol, and the school of management at the University of Bath.
