Colin is one of the people I am so grateful to have met in my life. Not only is he one of the smartest, wittiest people I know, his work truly reflects this level of intelligence and commitment. As a designer, Colin's work was visually gorgeous. As a copy editor, his work inspired my own passion to crafting the most appropriate, sharp headlines possible. It was always a treat to see what he would come up with, and his mini-masterpieces often won awards. And as the Life and Arts editor, Colin was able to take his appreciation for and knowledge of the local arts, music, etc. scene and translate that into useful, engaging content for our readers. His dedication was such that there were days I wondered if he even went home. Finally, Colin is someone who truly believes in the value of journalism. He is not someone to back down from his passionate beliefs about what is best for the audience served.

I work as a curator at The Oregonian's Pub Hub, choosing local and wire content for print sections, using stories posted to our website, oregonlive.com, and sent out by national syndicates. I oversee our two big A&E sections (Friday and Sunday), along with shifts that focus on overseeing nation/world, metro and page one stories. I also write the paper's cocktail column, The Cocktail Hour. Before working as a curator, I oversaw entertainment coverage on the Oregonian's Digital Desk and worked as a copy editor and designer. Assigned and edited stories for the features sections, overseeing pop culture, movies, music, TV, dining, food and drink. Before that, I was a news page designer and worked on the front page; I also would occasionally fill in as news editor or on the copy desk.
