I’ve known Sushma to be a vivacious, cheerful, optimistic, hard-working and highly motivated ME (Biotech) student from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, KK Birla Goa Campus. I have interacted with Sushma over the past two and a half years, not only as her instructor in Plant biotechnology, but also as her Reporting Officer in the Alumni Affairs Division where she worked as a Professional Assistant for the past year and a half. Sushma is blest with the rare ability to absorb and internalize and become one with her work. She not only shows a sense of ownership and pride in her work, but also a deep sense of responsibility and accountability. As her instructor in plant biotechnology, I have been a witness to her sharp and attentive confidence in class combined with good grasping power. Despite her initial assertion that she was not very fond of the subject, I found to my surprise, that many of her classmates and (later) her juniors turned to her for explanations of concepts in plant biotechnology! Besides this, in her role as Project Assistant, during the first year of her Master’s Course, Sushma instructed undergraduate students in `Measurement Techniques in Biology’. I am told that she was a popular instructor. Sushma has also been actively involved in helping organizing conferences and workshops in the institute. She is a very socially conscious young lady and contributes to
