I am a Geologist/Environmental Scientist on the Engineering Team. I work with Oil and Gas Operators to address their idle wells (wells shut in >1 year) and help them get into compliance in regards to our rule R649: 3-36. I work on preparing documents and aid in overseeing pluggings for our Orphan Well program. I also prepare and review the engineering portion of oil and gas permits. As a Geologist at the OCC, one of my main duties is to ensure regulatory compliance with operators. I evaluate and interpret data including core data, cross-sections, isopach/isochore maps, and completion information. This information is given in order to support their causes for hearings at the OCC and to ensure well compliance before and after they drill their wells. I work with a multitude of people including operator engineers, geologists, landmen, regulatory analysts, consultants, as well as their OCC attorneys to approve orders and intents to drill so they can legally drill in Oklahoma. I accomplish my tasks in a timely and professional manner and also mentor junior members of the team.

As a contractor, I worked on the induced seismicity project as it related to salt water disposal wells in Oklahoma. I interpreted mud and electric logs as well as various forms to confirm the rock formations operators are disposing into. I reviewed and documented the various data sent by operators to determine which companies are in current OCC compliance for disposal, and which have to perform further action. I analyzed weekly volume reports for each operator in the area of interest and contacted operators regarding volume reporting issues and answering questions. I also utilized ArcGis/ArcMap for mapping work of earthquakes and Arbuckle thickness.

I utilized log data within Petra to delineate formations including the Mississippian, Hunton, and Woodford within the Anadarko Basin and Cherokee Platform to construct regional structure and isopach maps. I also performed facies and reservoir mapping utilizing log characteristics and petrophysics within Mississippian rocks. Other duties included planning and geosteering horizontal wells during drilling and testifying as an expert witness at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC). I characterized conventional and unconventional reservoirs using core description, thin section analysis, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). I would collect and interpret the core data and relate it to the log data through SLB's heterogeneous rock analysis (HRA). I would synthesize this data with other core measurements including geomechanics, geochemistry, x-ray diffraction (XRD), porosity, and permeability measurements for reports and oral presentations to clients. Select onshore basins include the Niobrara, Marcellus, Bakken, Permian-aged rocks of West Texas, Duvernay, Montney, and the Utica. Outside of North America, I've performed work on samples from Poland, Australia, Africa, China, and the Middle East.
