Housing Research
-
Aug 2016 - Present
I acquire low income and/or subsidized housing for homeless families. I research and contact housing properties with available apartments. I also build relationships with landlords and explain all government programs available to homeless families. I help landlords understand how government programs, such as Section 8 and Homebase, work and help ensure that homeless families receive fair housing treatment.

I am in charge of groups of volunteers that tutor the children living at the shelter. Volunteers are high school students, college students, and/or adults. I help tutor children with reading, writing, math, and all other school subjects. I coordinate activities for the children, whether it be art and crafts or working with organizations that donate various things like school supplies for the children. I also coordinate ESOL classes for the parents living at the shelter.Basic office work is required as well. I acquire and input basic information from all the residents into a database. I am in charge of using Microsoft Publisher to create Newsletters to send out to donors. I am also in charge of the upkeep of the company's Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Show less
