Vice President - Corporate/Complex Giving
-
Aug 2009 - Sep 2020
In my tenure as Vice President - Corporate/Complex Giving at American Endowment Foundation (AEF), I provide charitable consultation to trusted professionals, families and business owners about donor advised funds and other charitable giving strategies. I have been published in various local and national publications, as well as spoken both locally and nationally to various financial, tax and estate planning organizations. I typically educate hundreds of professional advisors yearly about integrating philanthropy in business exit strategies as well as other charitable strategies. In my first 6 years at AEF, Laura helped donors and their financial advisors create more than 800 Donor Advised Funds that were integral to AEF's $1B+ growth in that timeframe. Included in the creation of those DAFs were gifts of closely held stock, restricted public stock, real estate, mineral interests, as well as cash and marketable securities. Starting in 2017, my focus shifted to include a specialized focus on the charitable acceptance, oversight and liquidation of nearly $500M in complex assets (closely held stock, real estate, hedge funds/alternative investments, insurance policies and commodities). Within the last two years completed I have led AEF's process in the acceptance of about 100 gifts of closely held business interests/private investments totaling over $200M by building trust and demonstrating the ability to establish effective relationships with business owners and their teams. I hold my Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation from the American College and serve as a faculty member for the Exit Planning Institute's Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) Designation. I also serve as Board President of the International Association of Advisors in Philanthropy. (Links below to external documents, photos, sites, videos, and presentations are related to 2018.
