Part-time Optical Assistant for AB Optics, charged with the day-to-day administrative running of the shop, both at weekends and for longer periods during the holidays. - Responsible for assisting patients throughout the process, from booking appointments to the purchase of glasses. - Relied upon to give giving honest but appropriate feedback on matters of style, suitability and price. Responsible for organising filing and paperwork and keeping patient notes up-to-date, managing both a paper-based filing system and a computer database. - Organised, wrote and sent recall letters at the appropriate times to ensure a good rate of returning custom. - Maintained the appearance of the shop on a daily basis, from cleaning to creating window displays. Although this was a weekend job, I maintained good relations with the proprietors and was asked to return during university holidays to cover employee holidays both at my usual practice and other branches, which often gave me the responsibility of opening, managing and closing the shop on days when there was no optician present.
