      During my PhD, I undertook a long-term artificial selection experiment to investigate whether mosaic brain evolution is possible under experimental settings. Such selection experiments are usually conducted over several generations, examining the broader implications of artificially altering for a specific trait in a population of individuals. In this case, we selected for a relatively larger and smaller telencephalon in guppies in order to investigate the evolutionary costs and benefits involved in this directed selection. Alongside this long-term project, I also examined the relationship between brain morphology, plasticity and cognition using the same model species. Show less
