  Autism Rocks is a charitable organization that helps raise awareness about autism and funds research by organizing concerts by popular world musicians and artists from across the globe. After my young son Nikhil was diagnosed with autism in 2014, I founded Autism Rocks. My objective is to inspire business owners, entrepreneurs and philanthropists by sharing the lessons I have learnt over my working life, entrepreneurial journey and current role as a philanthropist. After consulting with the government-run Dubai Autism Centre, a well-meaning but understaffed and overwhelmed local facility, Shah resolved to bring his financial and personal resources to bear for local families affected by autism. He helped the center purchase two new minibuses, which it promptly put into service ferrying low- and middle-income families from farther-flung parts of the city-state. Shah then dedicated himself to planning a more ambitious approach to building autism awareness and supporting potentially life-changing research. “I’ve long believed it my duty to give generously to my community and to the causes I care about in the wider world,” says Sanjay Shah, “but I’d never really discussed intentional philanthropy with my family until Nikhil’s diagnosis.”
