Sound and Projections Apprentice
-
Aug 2022 - May 2023
During the 2022-2023 season, I served as Studio Theatre's Sound and Projections Apprentice. I worked under the Lighting and Sound Supervisor to ensure all audio and video related tasks were completed. I communicated with designers/other technicians, updated inventory and paperwork, installed several sound and video plots of various sizes, programmed several boards included a Yamaha QL1, created and programmed a local network for audio and video devices to live in, programmed in QLab for both audio and video, troubleshooted A/V technology and networking issues, performed maintenance on A/V equipment, and I also subbed as both a sound board op and a light board op for some performances and Studio-related events. Outside of my apprenticeship, I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to stage manage a reading at Studio. My apprenticeship diversified my skills beyond A/V related topics by allowing me the time to learn about electrics/lights, basic carpentry, stage management, wardrobe, run crew, and production management.
