The latest chapter in this incredible journey! I can hardly believe how lucky I was to get here! Rarely have I met such a benevolent and well-meaning team. And through it all, having to do all I can so that our learners get one of the best design teachings around, now isn't that an awesome job to get up to? : ] The latest chapter in this incredible journey! Narrative Designer

Narrative DesignerMy job and joy. Before diving into this, I have a confession to make. If you can think of a narrative mistake, I’ve probably made it. Twice. Which probably explains why my first game scenarios were all gloriously awful. With some effort I managed to raise a few to the “nice try but still bad” level though! But I simply never gave up. And now, thirty years after this stumbling start, I can proudly say that I am not as glaringly bad!If I had to name a few achievements, I could state that I won the Festival International des Jeux RPG scenario contest (twice), that I started developing an RPG for SEGA or scenarios for Studio Agate (Les Ombres d’Esteren, Dragon, 7th Sea)…But by far, the one that I am the proudest of, is my players’ reactions. Narrative & Game Design Teacher
-
Jun 2017 - Present
Oh what a ride this is! From the first bachelor years to the last ones of the master degree, I have had the pleasure to teach for the ISART, Artline Institute, IUT of Bobigny, 3IS, ITECOM… Each time being quite the story, usually involving a good deal of sweat and laughter! And each time it has been a blast, both with their team and students!Oh and when I said “Narrative & Game Design Teacher”, well there was that and a bit more actually : ) I also taught level design, video game history, game culture, UX design and producing.Teaching one moment and designing the narrative design program for a whole curriculum the next, I really can say that I learned at least as much as I taught! : ) Show less

Head Game Librarian
-
Sep 2012 - Feb 2019
While working my way into the video game industry, I had the chance to jump on a warm-up stage: Game Librarian. The financial difficulties of our association gave me a great opportunity to show Paris what I can do when I am asked about games and teams. After 4 months I ended as the only employee in the structure, at the heart of its whole development. Today we are 6 on the team, my subsidized fixed-term contract turned into a permanent one and I started a pioneering cyberspace, in partnership with Capital Games, Cyanide and Amplitude Studios, designed to illustrate how rich video game experiences can be. Private Tutor & School Teacher
-
Sep 1996 - Sep 2012
I was good at school, have a good empathy and I love helping people so it felt natural to give private tuition to survive my college years. One day though I woke up and realized that I was giving these lessons mostly to very prominent families (actors, politicians, business men etc.) and... Well they could have chosen anyone for their children and I was glad they picked me but they definitely were not the ones who needed my help most. So off I was to become a School Teacher for the French National Education! It was three intense years, brutal even as I reached a ridiculously high number of weekly working hours. 50 to 80 to... well, too much. I did quite some good and keep very fond memories of these days: awkwardly holding a mother brought to tears with gratitude, colleagues throwing a surprise party in my classroom to thank me for bringing back the team together... But at some point, as tough as it is to admit, my body literally stopped me from keeping this crazy schedule up. I may have been a good, needed teacher but this was about all I was. At the end of these weeks, the dust settled, I came back to basics and to terms with my current situation: No matter how hard I wanted to help, I couldn't hold on a sense of duty alone. In times like these, Carmine Gallo often genuinely asks "What makes your heart sing?". My answer was immediate, clear as day: Crafting Games. Show less

I couldn't always do what I wanted but I believe that in design, there is always something valuable to learn wherever you go. So I tried to stay as close as possible to my vocation, acquiring all the skills and experiences I could as I went. Along this road I have notably been Q.A. Tester, Proofreader, Translator, and Game and Video Game Seller. I couldn't always do what I wanted but I believe that in design, there is always something valuable to learn wherever you go.
