Inspired by starting a family and being a Mum I left my onsite renovation work and building to start up retail business: Children's gift and fashion. The philosophy was to inspire play and interaction between children and their carers through sustainable, time honoured toys and connect them to the source. So I travelled to Nurenburg to meet generational and innovative toy makers and bring their stories and their toys back to Perth. The philosophy was to inspire play and interaction between children and their carers through sustainable, time honoured toys and connect them to the source. So I travelled to Nurenburg to meet generational and innovative toy makers and bring their stories and their toys back to Perth. I created 2 stores - Ball & Skittle 2008 - where we opened up with a community 3 day party to raise money for a Wish for a Starlight Child. Then in 2011 a second store - Uber + Klein. To keep the 8+ children (the SUPER - UBER) kids and adults open to play and away from digital devices. In terms of business managements I created 2 fond local brands, supported completely with solid operating systems - inventory management with POS and back end system using REX. Developed great supplier relationships. Nurtured staff through a more people centric hiring & training program. Created a marketing strategy drawing nearly 10K members through social media and direct marketing. I had a very respected relationship with shopping centre marketing and management as I ran a great store with value for customers. The key to it was a spirited drive and desire for excellence through relationships with suppliers, my customers and my team. Today still get stopped by old customers who say it was the best store for their family. My husband was terminally diagnosed and survived cancer and after years of restraint of competitive trade in commercial interiors & building, we decided as a family to open a firm again. I assisted in setting up that business as I did for Habitat1 back in 2003. Sold businesses and continued to consult to those business owners until 2017. I was involved in day to day marketing initiatives, culture development, event management, including corporate hospitality with Rally Australia. S&H had successfully provided the IT solution for Rally Australia for 4 consecutive years. At the time the hot discussion in the IT industry was the turn of 2000, and whether or not computers would stop working on the turn of the new century! We were approached as a large prospect for keen sales of solutions to ensure our client's business didn't stop with their computer systems. I assisted in fielding these offerings made recommendations not to take up any of the offerings. There was no definitive knowledge at the time and we really were running on gut instinct.
