Catherine Killingsworth
Kristina is incredibly bright and has a talent for understanding the user's point of view. She's a great communicator and excellent with people, but she's also a strong strategic thinker. She understands how to build systems that feel intuitive and work efficiently, effectively, and reliably. She's a pleasure to work with!
M. Jay Granger
Kristina Batiste is among the most generous professors I have worked with during my time as a graduate student. Too often the demands of instruction, assessment, and other work lead instructors to develop solid but single-minded approaches to their subjects. Kristina stands in marked opposition to this kind of teaching. She opened the class with a clear plan, and then proceeded to shift, adjust, and alter her way through the semester, adapting her goals and her methods to the needs of the class. I think this pattern of behavior speaks to her confidence as well as her competence. Kristina constantly questions her work—as she constantly questions the work of her students—but she is never judgmental. Rather, her compassionate engagement takes the form of a determination to reach her best and to help her students reach their best. I found her extraordinarily flexible, deeply knowledgeable, and utterly human. She was a pleasure to work with, and I am gratified to have the opportunity to recommend her as both an instructor and a colleague.
